A Grammatically Incorrect Dishwasher
What you see in the photo is the name of our dishwasher. To experience its quietness in the convenience of your own home, there are a few easy steps you can follow, laid out below. Make sure you read them carefully, in order to get the most out of it. We wouldn’t want you to be underwhelmed.
First, you’ll need to make an appointment at your doctor’s. Don’t worry, nothing is wrong with you. At least, not just yet.
Once you see the physician of your trust, ask him to lend you his stethoscope. Tell him it is for a scientific experiment, but you will probably bring it back in one piece.
Back home, switch on the radio. Tune it carefully between two channels, so that you get mostly static noise. Turn up the volume as far as the speakers can take. Then turn it up some more.
Go into the bathroom(s) and open all the taps fully. This should make for a nice background noise, especially if you have a bath tub.
Now, finally, go to the kitchen. Turn on the dishwasher. Place the stethoscope on the outer wall of it and search for the spot where you can hear it the loudest and clearest.
Found it? Bravo! You have succeeded!

Hallihallo Opa und Wolfgang! Ich hab gehört dass ihr fleißig mitlest und euch durch Wörterbücher quält. Kurz hatten wir die grandiose Idee, euch ‘Google Translate’ zu empfehlen. Dort könnt ihr einfach die Internetadresse von unserem Blog eintragen, und schon lest ihr alles auf deutsch. In der Theorie zumindest. In der Praxis ist es wahrscheinlich schwieriger, die dortigen Ergebnisse vom Deutschen ins Deutsche zu übersetzen, als mit dem Wörterbuch in der Hand unseren Blog zu lesen. Entweder ist die Technik noch nicht so weit, oder unser Englisch ist zu schlecht dafür. Tut uns sehr leid! Wenn ihr aber schlaue Enkel oder (Ur-? Groß-? Schwipp-?)Neffen und -Nichten habt, die eh mal dringend was übersetzen sollten, dann setzt die doch einfach drauf an. Das Ergebnis könnt ihr uns schicken, dann machen wir doch noch einen mehrsprachigen Blog draus. 🙂 Jedenfalls: Viele liebe Grüße aus Kanada!

Try to take a photo with your mobile of something rather small and moving while having a child bound in front of you who wishes nothing else in the world but having THAT mobile in HIS hands NOW… Well, that is a result of it. No, it’s not a whale again, it’s a seal (!) having a swim in the bay…
If I stay so lucky I will not have to go to the famous Vancouver aquarium any more. I can save some money for buying “salty caramel” ice cream (but that is another story).
