Faust and M…exit?

Yes, we made it! We (well, Julian did) signed the contract for renting the new apartment. We are moving in next weekend.

And because it always feels like signing for eternity and it costs lots of money Julian feels like crap ๐Ÿ™‚ But it will be great! I’m sure of it. Let me just bake a cake there so it smells like home and it will start feeling like home in a second.
Our new address is: 1750 Davie Street, Vancouver BC V6G 1W3, for those of you, who want to google it. It’s small but very cosy, and it has a sleeping couch, so you are welcome to visit us anytime. And the view is awesome! We will upload some pictures of it as soon as we move in.
But before we do that, here some funny stuff from our current building:

bad luck?

Jup, you are not wrong, the Canadian people are very superstitious: there is no 13th flor. I don’t know if Germans are the same, because I have never been in a German building which was so high, but I’m pretty sure we are not scared to live on the 13th flor in Poland. Well, maybe because we are sooooooo catholic ๐Ÿ˜€

mmm-what?!

Another funny thing: the lobbyย is marked with the letter “M” in the elevator. We wondered for two weeks what is it standing for and I finally know the answer (ony because I was with someone else in the elevator one day and she asked me if I also want to go there). So I have a question for you guys: does any of you have any idea? (without googling it, of course ๐Ÿ™‚ ). I will give you the right answer after some time. Mexit? Mlobby? Mfirst level? Mstreet level?

We spent rather lazy weekend, so there was nothing spectacular we can show you today, nevertheless here some images taken during our walk:

Did I tell you about the architecture wonders in the city? If I may quote one of Julians friends also staying here: it looks like Hungary in their 70ies (and it’s not better inside, believe me!). See how they support the whole building with two shitty pieces of drift wood (probably found on the beach the day before)?

the Canadian way of building

Remember I told you Julian needs a new jacket? We found THE one ๐Ÿ™‚

ready for the rain

Another thing: we were thinking for some time to make a “did you know THAT?!” section in the blog, so here comes the first posting on the mobile contract peculiarities in this funny country:
Did you know that… in Canada you pay for incoming calls, too?! How stupid is THAT?! Julian is spending every evening looking for some clever solutions for us but it’s just hopeless… I don’t think we will find anything under 30 CAD (and belive me, there is no flat rate inย it! if we are lucky we get like 100 minutes and 100 MG free per month). I’m telling you, the guys here need to catch up a bit with the real world…
