One-Day Weekends Make For Short Adventures
Hey hello! Thanks for being patient! Honestly, nothing too interesting is happening over here. Along with the fact that there are better things to do in the few moments of free time we do have than writing about uninteresting things, that makes for slow blogging. But it’s been so long, so let us give you the latest and greatest.
Easing out of the Chinese New Year celebrations, we teamed up with co-workers/ex-neighbours/kid-charmers Kelly and Brian for a trip to Jurong Bird Park. What sounded like a toned-down, less exciting version of the Zoo turned out to be a really nice park with its very own charm. Maybe because you can’t let wild animals run freely around the park, but nobody ever got harmed by giant pigeons. Like this one.

We took surprisingly many photos of birds and surprisingly few of the kids, maybe because Kaspar didn’t feel like walking much and Albert didn’t feel like being happy much. He was a bit scared of all the birds, I think. Agnieszka went back with them recently and his attitude towards the creatures has slightly improved. Who knows, maybe he will get used to them enough to actually feed them by the time we leave Singapore. Here, have a few mug shots of birds.

We also met Daniel (who I worked with in Germany years ago) and Madeleine and enjoyed an afternoon in and around Arab Street. It’s a bit of a hipster area, but it has a very different vibe than the other corners of Singapore we’ve seen so far, and it was great to experience that. Also, because of Daniel’s hobby/second job as a photographer for street portraits, he talks to and ends up knowing lots of people, and we felt like being shown around by a real local.

Few weeks and many trips to the playground later, Easter was upon us – a glorious 3-day weekend for which we had made oh so many plans. Then, this happened.

Albert fought off the plague for two days and we stayed close to home and nurtured him back to his old grumpy self. We took short walks to the playground and waterfront, where we watched a few guys fishing for dinner in the shape of crabs. The lovely folks at the Oasia put up Easter treats, and we went back to W39 once more to enjoy their good food and coffee.

We spent some time at the Marina Bay (I think I’m messing up the timeline here, but it was so long ago…!) to check out the Festival of Light. We were there before nightfall, of course, so that was only semi-successful. But it’s a nice area.
There’s not much else to tell or show. I spent one evening walking around the city but ended up not taking many photos. Here’s a few, including some educational material in case you want to read up on what kind of infrastructure plans the government has.

Today was the last day of “Solo”, which means that tomorrow is REALLY the last day of “Solo”, unless there’s still things to do on Monday. Here, watch a trailer, why dontcha.
All the cool stuff you see in there? Yeah! I did none of that! 🙂 But, and this is the one piece of real news we have, I’ll get another shot at doing cool stuff, as my contract was extended by 5 weeks to help out on another movie. See you end of June, then?
That’s it for now, more might come soon-ish, or not. We’ll see. 🙂 And with that, for old times sake, I’ll call it a night and finish with a sunset. Good night!
